Default Start new char or keep going till I can change 2nd profession ?

Well right now I have a R/Me, but I am playing as a pure ranger atm. I am lvl 19 and the furthest I have gotten is Amoon Oasis.

I want to play a R/W sometimes and might even play that full time if I like it. I played it in the premade pvp char and it was pretty fun.

Now I don't know how much further I have to go to be able to get my 2nd prof changed to be able to switch between playing pure ranger and r/w.

If I was to remake my char and make him a r/w I can always just refund points when I want to go pure ranger and switch back to melee when i want. But as of right now I can't do that since my 2nd prof is a mesmer.

I guess what i'm trying to get at is will it be faster if I just played my lvl 19 r/me to get 2nd prof change or would it be faster for me to just remake the char as a r/w so that I can change back and fourth as I please.

Thanks for the help and input.

You are quite close to being able to switch your secondary..however, whether this is worth doing is debatable.

When you switch professions, you will have absolutely no warrior skills at all..and then you will have to earn a lot of skill points in order to buy/capture them.

I, personally would keep going..just be careful with the skill points until you do so.

If you have plenty of time, I would rather say start another one. Because if you change your profession after ascendsion. You will have no warrior skills. Having to earn skill points can be a drag later on especially when you want to save them more for elites.

As for myself, I have started quite a few similar characters just changing the secondary profession. You have to do all the quest all over, but you get quite a number of skills free through quests without using skil points.

My E/N switched to E/Mo and now switches back and forth all the time. I had more than enough skill points to get all the skills I needed in all three professions and still have plenty left over. Just buy the ones you want/need and don't bother with the worthless ones. That and run every kill-giving quest you can find.

Start over as a Warrior/Ranger if you want to be a tank. It is much easier to find a group as the tank roll if you are W/R then as a R/W, as many are biased against rangers. If you plan on doing guild groups always and not pick up groups though, you can continue on as your guild will know you can be a good tank.

Another thing with switching secondaries, that unless i am mistaken, you have to buy the pre-searing skills with cash and skill points. You won't with a new character.

Warriors are useless. They're a meat shield and nothing more. More often than not you got some pedantic over-zealous warrior in the group running around aggroing everything. I'd rather not party up with a Primary Warrior.

A R/W I ran into the other day was best tank I have ever seen. Random arenas, he had 3 of us on him "rest of his team was dead" and we just couldn't kill him. Ranger Armor is great. All we needed was one of a few skills to stop him, but we didn't have any means of doing it.

yeah, R/W are very good warriors, just not thought of that way my most people, thus my advice about being wary of it if you are going to be in lots of pick up groups.

I've had much better luck with pick-up groups with my ranger than with any of my other characters. It's actually easier to get into a good pickup group with my ranger than with my warrior or monk. Sure, it's easier to get into just any old PUG with my warrior or monk, but that's no big advantage if they fail at the mission. Those groups willing to pick up a ranger seem to generally be more likely to succeed. They know more about the game than those who would discriminate. With my warrior or monk, I don't get that automatic "screen out the idiots" effect, so I get into PUGs more easily, but end up wasting a lot of time with PUGs that have no chance of success. I'd rather stand around town waiting for a decent group.
